Alstom starts construction of new rail technology centre in the North West of England


Alstom today celebrates the start of construction work on its new technology centre and training academy in Widnes at a ground-breaking ceremony attended by UK Rail Minister Paul Maynard. 

First quarter 2016/17: Alstom continues its organic growth


Over the first quarter 2016/17 (from 1 April to 30 June 2016), Alstom booked €0.9 billion of orders, compared to €2 billion over the same period last year. Sales, at €1.7 billion, were up 7% organically over the first quarter 2016/17.

Alstom wins Pendolino painting contract in the UK


Alstom was awarded a contract worth €28 million to undertake re-painting work on the Pendolino fleet, owned by Angel Trains, which comprises 56 Class 390 ‘tilting’ trains currently used by Virgin Trains on the West Coast Main Line.

Alstom wins maintenance contract for 25 new TransPennine Express trains


Alstom has been awarded a contract worth €40 million by TransPennine Express – the intercity rail operator for the North of England and Scotland – to maintain two fleets of 25 brand new five-car trains from their entry into commercial service in 2019 to 2024, with an option for two additional years.

Alstom  has been awarded a contract by Network Rail for the full re-signalling of the Great Western Main Line between Reading and Paddington in the west of London.

Alstom announces the launch of a second TrainScanner in the UK


Alstom announced today that following the successful testing of TrainScanner predictive maintenance prototype on Virgin’s fleet of Pendolino trains in Manchester, a second investment in a new machine will go ahead at Oxley depot near Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.
