Alstom and the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) signed today a Framework Agreement on Establishing Strategic Alliance on Advanced Open Systems for Smart Cities, in presence of Ronan Stephan, Group Chief Innovation Officer of Alstom and Professor Way KUO, President and University Distinguished Professor of City University of Hong Kong.

Alstom Grid has successfully tested 820 kV bushings for HVDC converter transformers, placing the company as one of only three players in the world to manufacture this technology, which is key to ensuring the reliability of HVDC lines . The bushings are designed and manufactured at Alstom’s bushing competence centre, in Milan, Italy.

The project received €3.5 million of funding as part of the European Commission Seventh research programme.
Alstom Grid and Intel today signed a global agreement to combine expertise and work together on solutions and technologies for smart grids and smart cities. The focus will be on embedded intelligence and IT systems security to facilitate a fast roll-out of new architectures for future grids. The deal is the fruit of three years’ close collaboration on projects.
