Alstom designs, builds, delivers, tests and commissions all types of rail electrification infrastructure (subsystems and contact systems), adapts them to its customers’ needs, and ensures maintenance.

The power of your network

The quality of a rail network’s electrification system has a direct influence on its reliability, safety and performance. Entrusting all aspects of an electrification system to a single provider avoids incompatibilities between interfaces and offers an optimum level of quality.

Cross-disciplinary know-how

Alstom ensures the transportation and distribution of power by catenary or third rail, whatever the voltage (direct or alternating current from 750 V to 2x25kV) or speed of the train (from 60km/h to 360km/h).

Guaranteed reliability

To achieve the optimum design of all power system components, Alstom engineers conduct dynamic simulations for the overhead wire/pantograph interface.

Traffic simulation studies are also conducted to optimise the position and size of the traction sub-station equipment and trackside equipment.

A unique return on experience

Alstom has installed nearly 4,000km of contact systems throughout the world and takes part in hundreds of power supply projects, including both turnkey contracts and the delivery of separate sub-systems.
