Mark Spinner joined Alstom in 2008 as Alstom S&E Africa Legal Counsel. The position entails attending to all legal and company secretarial matters for the Alstom Group of companies in South Africa.
Prior to Alstom, Mark was a Senior Manager for Contracts and Legal/Corporate Compliance at Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions South Africa. Here he was responsible for all legal matters pertaining to the organizations business dealing in Sub-Saharan Africa where he drafted and negotiated all contract terms and conditions. The job included ensuring compliance with the organisation’s internal processes, policies and procedures and local and foreign legislative enactments such as Sarnbanes-Oxley, US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act etc. He was also responsible for facilitating the organisation’s compliance with the government’s policy on Black Economic Empowerment and the National Industrial Participation Programme.
From 2001 to 2003, Mark was Group Legal Adviser for Ariviakom (Pty) Ltd, Sunninghill, Johannesburg. His job entailed the formulation of procurement policies, procedures and practices for the organization as well as the establishment of a contract management organization and the drafting of standard contracting terms and conditions. He provided the required legal support for the Ariviakom (Pty) Ltd. Group of Companies.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A), a Secondary Teacher’s Diploma, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and a Master of Laws (LL.M) and is an Attorney of the High Court of SA. He holds professional memberships in the Law Society of the Northern Provinces, the Black Lawyers’ Association and the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM)
