Acquired by Alstom in June 2010,
Alstom Grid - the former AREVA Transmission business - complements our two other Group sectors
of Power and Transport.
In the UK, Alstom Grid employs over 1400 people and specialises in turnkey
projects for power transmission and power electronics based utility
applications with extensive expertise with renewable energy as well as
integrated SmartGrid systems.
The UK business is the global competence centre for HVDC
Converter transformers, and specialises in the design, manufacture and erection of
large, complex and non-standard power transformers up to 800 kV and 2750 MVA.
This offering is supported by an experienced service business offering
maintenance, repair, retrofit, refurbishment and emergency support.
Continued investment in research and development through
the Alstom Grid Technology Centre ensures a continued expertise. These include the
connection and integration of generation and loads into transmission systems
relating to renewable energy, as well as being industry leaders in the
development of SmartGrid systems.
