Alstom T&D India has secured orders of around €32 million (INR 2462 million) from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) to build 400/220 kV grid substations at Kudus, Alkud, and Kondhwa in Maharashtra. The substations will strengthen the 220 kV transmission network as part of Maharashtra’s 12th Five Year plan to strengthen the transmission system and enhance the capacity of power evacuation systems.

Alstom T&D India will construct on a turnkey basis, 400/220 kV air-insulated substations at Kudus and Alkud including power transformers, substation automation system and other auxiliary equipment. For Kondhwa, Alstom will build, also on a turnkey basis, a 220/22 kV gas-insulated substation with other equipment. All equipment will be supplied from Alstom T&D India’s manufacturing facilities across the country.

Rathin Basu, Managing Director, Alstom T&D India said, “Maharashtra is one of the largest transmission networks in India and has a generation capacity of 15,500 MW. Alstom T&D India, with its advanced high voltage products and solutions, plays a significant role in building and strengthening the state’s transmission network. These contracts reinforce our longstanding association with MSETCL and we aim to support their aim to provide electricity in a secure, reliable and efficient manner.”

Alstom has been associated with MSETCL on a number of projects including the first of its kind EPC contract by any state utility in India to build twenty-six 220/132 kV substations across the state. Alstom is also building the first 765 kV air-insulated substation at Aurangabad, first 400 kV gas-insulated substation at Hinjewadi, and executing a pilot project for MSETCL in Mumbai in remote operation and situational awareness.
