Alstom delivers a FABPAC Fabric Filter to VTT

Alstom has
completed the delivery of one new FABPAC fabric filter to VTT Expert Services Ltd.
The fabric filter was installed in VTTs fire laboratory in Otaniemi, Espoo,
Finland. Fire
safety of different kind of materials,
structures and services are tested in the laboratory and due to the
demanding testing conditions high quality materials that persist high
temperatures and humid conditions will be used in the fabric filter. The
project covered the supply, installation, insulation and commissioning of the
new filter.
VTT Expert
Services Ltd is a fully state-owned company and part of VTT Group. VTT, Technical
Research Centre of Finland, is the biggest multi-technological applied research
organisation in Northern Europe. VTT provides
high-end technology solutions and innovation services both for national and
international customers, companies and public sector.
FABPAC and ELPAC filters
FABPAC fabric
filters are Alstoms standardized modular filters, that remove efficiently
harmful particles from the flue gases. Alstom has delivered to Finland dozens
of standardized modular electrostatic precipitators (ELPAC) and fabric filters
(FABPAC) plus hundreds of tailored and customized electrostatic precipitators
and fabric filters for power plants and industrial plants, especially for the
pulp and paper industry and the iron & steel industry.
FABPAC to Norex Tornio Oy
One of our latest deliveries is from April 2011, when
Alstom delivered one FABPAC fabric filter to Norex Tornio Oy in Northern
Finland. Norex Tornio Oy provides annually more than 100 000 tons of cooling
scrap for Outokumpu Stainless, the largest producer of stainless steel in the
world.
