ALSTOM wins 140 million Euro order for extension of hydro
power plant in Mexico

ALSTOM has been awarded a contract worth approximately 140
million euros (US$115 million) to extend Comision Federal De
Electricidad's Chicoasen hydro power plant near Tuxtla
Gutierrez in Mexico.

ALSTOM will supply 3 x 310 MW turbines and generators, the
complete electrical and mechanical balance of plant, the
hydromechanical equipment and the plant's control and
monitoring system. ALSTOM will also be responsible for
secondary civil works, erection and commissioning.

Equipment will be manufactured at ALSTOM's Power facilities
in Switzerland, France and Brazil.

Site work is scheduled to begin in early 2001 and the plant
is scheduled to enter commercial operation in April 2004.

The existing plant, which was commissioned in 1980, consists
of 5 x 300 MW generating units for which ALSTOM had supplied
the generators.
