These three lines will serve the principal areas of Bordeaux
(Quais de Garonne, Pey-Berland, Pont de Pierre, Quinconces, Gare
St-Jean, Cenon, Lormont, Talence, University sites); they will
enter commercial service at the beginning of 2003.

This project, worth 260 million euros, is for
the supply of CITADIS'! trams, track, track covering and for the
total maintenance of the supplied equipment.

ALSTOM is the leader of the Consortium created for this
project. In this role, ALSTOM is responsible for the project
management of the system, the interface with the civil
contractors and the coordination the three subgroups:

  • a subgroup for the trackwork led by Spie Enertrans and also
    comprising ALSTOM and Cogifer TF,
  • a subgroup for the civil engineering and ground covering,
led by Fayat Entreprise TP and also comprising CMR, Sogefi,
    Moter and Spie Trindel Aquitaine,
  • a subgroup for the rolling stock, supplied by ALSTOM.

This Consortium also includes several local
companies, which today, employ more than 1000 people in the
Bordeaux area. The implementation of this project will allow for
the creation of additional jobs for the businesses of Bordeaux,
notably, due to the significant amount of subcontracting to be
awarded by the ALSTOM establishment at La Rochelle (Western
France).
