ALSTOM acquires Norweb Contracting

ALSTOM today announces the acquisition of Norweb Contracting
from United Utilities - owners of Norweb, the regional
electricity company in the north west of England. With a
turnover of 40 million euros, Norweb Contracting employs 300
staff engaged on utility services and industrial/commercial
contracting at sites throughout the region.

The acquisition will strengthen ALSTOM Network Services, a
newly formed unit specifically created to be a 'one stop shop'
for all electrical service requirements of transmission,
distribution, industrial and commercial customers. ALSTOM
Network Services is a crucial and complementary addition to
ALSTOM's existing Transmission & Distribution business
activities in the UK.

Ian Herbert, Vice President, Business Development for
Network Services said, 'ALSTOM aims to be the preferred choice
in the market place by offering solutions giving the best
balance between investment, operation and maintenance costs
over project life cycles'. He added, 'We are able to bring to
the UK the considerable experience gained as a primary service
provider to network owners in New Zealand, Australia and
Brazil'.

ALSTOM's T&D Sector offers a complete range of
equipment, systems and services for the safe, reliable and
efficient transmission and distribution of electricity at all
power levels from the generator to the end user.

Contracting, all of these being supported by the ALSTOM
Network.
