ALSTOM wins combined cycle power plant order

The 160MW power plant will bridge the energy deficit in the
state of Gujarat

ALSTOM has won an 85 million euro order to build a combined
cycle power plant at Hazira, in Gujarat State for Gujarat State
Energy Generation Ltd. Electricity from the plant, which is
scheduled to enter commercial operation in early 2002, will
serve a wide variety of consumers in the State.

ALSTOM Power will deliver 2 x 58 MW type GT8C2 gas turbines,
a steam turbine, two heat recovery steam generators, electrical
equipment, the instrumentation and control system, all balance
of plant equipment as well as the HV switchyard. The use of
ALSTOM Power's GT8C2 highly efficient and environmentally
friendly gas turbine technology will greatly contribute to the
Hazira plant's overall efficiency, while ensuring low NOx
emissions.

Transmission & Distribution and Transport sectors. In
Power, ALSTOM has installed approximately 10,000 MW of
generating capacity in the country of which around 2,000 MW are
high efficiency combined-cycle power plants. The Company also
participated in the successful construction of India's first
IPP project, the 235 MW Jegurupadu combined cycle plant, for
which it supplied 3 x 53 MW type GT8C gas turbines.
