ALSTOM to supply the traction systems for 13 new regional
trains for Swiss rail company BLS

The order, worth approximately 59 million euros, also includes
an option for a further 20 trainsets. ALSTOMs share of the
contract is equivalent to 34% or about 20 million euros, not
counting options.

 The 62-metre-long, air-conditioned trainsets will each have
a capacity of 193 seated passengers. Thanks to their four powered
axles, each will have a potential power output of 1 MW, giving
them a top speed of 160km/h. ALSTOMs Ridderkerk plant in the Netherlands will
supply the electrical equipment (traction, electronic and
auxiliary controls). The coaches will be manufactured in
Switzerland at Bombardier Transportations Villeneuve
site. The new vehicles will begin to enter commercial service in
