For the first time the German national operator gives a
supplier the highest level status for combined product quality
and commercial relation for a whole train. It recognises that
the Alstom Salzgitter’s teams met the on-time delivery
and customers requirements with very reasonable prices.

The evaluation on quality and commercial criteria was led by
DB’s purchasing department.

The order for the BR 474.3 was placed in 2003. It consisted of
the supply of nine new trains and the rebuilding of 33 existing
trainsets, delivered from March 2006 to August 2007 to operate
in the region of Hamburg.

“For the first time our department awards this status to
a supplier for a complete train. This is something very
special” said Markus Scholz from the rolling stock
purchasing department of the Deutsche Bahn.

For many years, Alstom and Bombardier were successfully
evaluated by DB on the quality processes. Now the commercial
aspects are evaluated as well, with specific requirements from
the customer.

“With our partner Bombardier, we put an excellent product
on track. We are proud of our ET 474.3” said Wolfgang
Ebeling, project manager at Alstom. ”The realization of
the project was always fair and cooperative from both parties
and the consortium mostly obtained positive feedback from the
customer.“
