Alstom has been awarded a contract by InterGen for the supply and
implementation of gas turbine compressor upgrades for the two GT26 units
at Coryton combined cycle power station located in Essex,
United-Kingdom.

The compressor upgrades, including some plant modifications, will improve the combined cycle output at Coryton power station by more than 40MWe. All work will be undertaken during a planned outage starting in the Summer of 2008.

"We take pride in our record as the safest and cleanest thermal power generator in the UK. Alstom are a market leader in innovative and environmentally friendly technologies and are a natural partner as we invest further in the UK"  said Tim Menzie, InterGen.

The supply of a compressor upgrade, further equipment for plant modifications and technical support will be provided by a combined team of Alstom experts from Power Service UK and Switzerland.

Tim Menzie, InterGen's UK General Manager said: "We take pride in our record as the safest and cleanest thermal power generator in the UK. Alstom are a market leader in innovative and environmentally friendly technologies and are a natural partner as we invest further in the UK".

Steven Jones, Managing Director, Alstom Power Service North West Europe Area, said: "This was chosen against other competing projects, for capital investment and we are delighted that InterGen has taken this option. It confirms that our strategy to continue to offer value-enhancing upgrades to our customers is a successful approach in today's competitive market. This project demonstrates Alstom's commitment to enable new technology upgrades to be fitted to existing power plants so owners can continue to benefit from the latest developments."
