Steam turbine retrofit to California, USA

Pacific Gas and Electric Company has awarded ALSTOM a contract to retrofit Units 1 & 2 at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, California, with 6 Low Pressure steam turbine cylinders. 

This LP turbine retrofit solution will provide enhanced steam path efficiency and reliability and reduce maintenance/inspection requirements for the remaining operational life of the units. 

Delivery of the first unit is scheduled for June 2005, with the second unit being delivered six months later. 

This is the second major contract within a month from the nuclear steam turbine market for the ALSTOM Steam Turbine Retrofit Business, following an order from Forsmark Kraftgrupp AB in Sweden to retrofit their two steam turbine units at the Forsmark Nuclear Power Station. 

ALSTOM has already accumulated over 10,000,000 hours of operational experience from its turbine equipment installed in nuclear power stations
