Alstom Power in Poland awarded the "Golden Laurel" in the filed of Innovativeness 2012
Alstom Grid has signed two contracts, each worth approximately €5 million, with Eltel Networks Rzeszów S.A. for the delivery of 110 kV and 220 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) in Poland. The equipment is destined for the Kopanina project, owned by PSE S.A. - the main provider of electricity transmission services for the Polish power system. Commissioning of the 220 kV gas-insulated switchgear is planned for summer 2014 and the 110 kV substation, for spring 2015.
Between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013, Alstom booked €23.8 billion of orders, up 10% compared to last year. As announced, the group achieved a strong level of orders in the fourth quarter at €6.6 billion, leading to a book-to-bill above 1 for the 10th consecutive quarter.

Alstom has been awarded a contract to supply equipment for the Yanbu 3 power and desalination plant located on the Red Sea coast in the western part of Saudi Arabia. This will be one of the country’s first supercritical power plants to run on heavy fuel oil. This investment is part of Saudi Arabia’s objective to expand its power generation base while minimising impact on the environment. The contract is worth around €750 million .
When Patrick Kron is appointed Chairman & CEO of Alstom, he takes the helm of a company in a critical situation, whose very survival is at stake. The drastic decisions which will be taken and the considerable efforts implemented in the following years will have a profound effect on Alstom.
Today Alstom and PKP IC signed the foundation act and laid the cornerstone of a new depot for the maintenance of the new high speed trains owned by PKP IC. The depot will include a workshop hall with rails and overhead catenary, an automatic wash area, as well as offices and personnel facilities.

In December 2012 Alstom handed over the new 50 MW generator for the Jaworzno II biomass co-fired steam power plant to its customer Tauron Wytwarzanie S.A. The new generator, which replaced the one built in the 1960’s in Russia, is the first fully designed and managed project for Alstom’s Thermal Service unit based in Wroclaw (Poland).
Alstom has signed a contract with Tauron Dystrybucja S.A. Oddział w Legnicy – southern Poland’s regional distribution operator - for the erection of the 110/20 kV Ustronie gas-insulated substation and the connection to existing 110 kV overhead lines in Lubin.
On 6 December 2012, Alstom Transport celebrated the opening of two new production halls: a paint shop and a welding and erection shop, in its rolling stock manufacturing plant in Chorzów (Poland). The total investment is worth approximately €8 million (PLN 32.8 million).
