The 6 MW Haliade 150 wind turbine has been developed in response to a call for tenders launched by the French government in July 2011 that aims to install 3 GW of wind turbine power off French shores by 2015.

With a value of more than €250 million, the project provides for the supply of an integrated system which includes an automatic driver system and 27 rubber-tyred metro trainsets in order to address the expected increase in traffic over the next few years.

Norway’s Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg inaugurated the world’s largest CO2 capture test facility – partially based on Alstom’s Chilled Ammonia technology – at the Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM) on May 7, 2012. Alstom is one of two suppliers selected to build and test CO2 capture facilities, which are located near Bergen, by TCM’s partners Gassnova, Statoil, Shell and Sasol.

Between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2012, Alstom booked €21.7 billion of orders, up 14% compared to last year. As announced, the fourth quarter was particularly strong with €6.6 billion of new contracts.

Alstom Bharat Forge Power Ltd. (ABFPL), the joint venture company between Alstom and Bharat Forge, has secured an order worth over €250 million (INR 1570) crore for the supply to NTPC Limited of two units of 660 MW supercritical coal “turbine islands” in Solapur located in the state of Maharashtra in India. Alstom’s share of the contract amounts to approximately €125 million and will be booked in April 2012.

The Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Paulo Portas and the President of the Portuguese agency for Foreign Trade and Investment AICEP, Mr. Pedro Reis joined Alstom executives on April 17 at the company’s manufacturing workshop in Setubal, Portugal to announce the company’s plans to invest close to €12.5 million in expanding and further upgrading the technical capabilities of the Setubal facility. This expansion will create 130 direct and indirect jobs in the region.

Alstom and the Fonds Stratégique d’Investissement (Strategic Investment Fund) are studying the joint purchase of 85% of Translohr, a Lohr group brand which specialises in the manufacture and marketing of tyre-based trams. Lohr SA, the parent company of the Lohr Industries group, would retain a 15% shareholding. The total amount of the deal would be around €60M.

Alstom wins France’s first offshore wind tender as part of the EDF EN consortium. Four factories will be created to supply 240 Haliade 150 wind turbines.
The Municipality of Amsterdam, owner of the local metro infrastructure, has awarded Alstom a contract to deploy its signalling technology on the four existing metro lines and on the new North-South line, currently under construction.
The new Alstom Transport site in Tarbes-Séméac in France was inaugurated on April 5, 2012 in the presence of Martin Malvy, President of the Midi-Pyrénées Region, Gerard Trémège, President of the Urban Community of Grand Tarbes and Mayor of Tarbes, Patrick Kron, Chairman and CEO of Alstom, Henri Poupart-Lafarge, President of Alstom Transport and Christophe Florin, Site Director.

Alstom Transport will manufacture 28 Coradia Continental regional trains for the German operator Deutsche Bahn Regio NRW GmbH. The contract is worth approximately €140 million . This is the first stage of the frame contract signed in 2011 with DB Regio for the delivery of up to 400 trains.
