Alstom Grid, the global expert in electrical grid performance, has been awarded a contract to supply its Psymetrix PhasorPoint solution to ISO New England under the Synchrophasor Infrastructure and Data Utilization (SIDU) Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) project. PhasorPoint will help ISO New England improve its management of power system dynamics and system reliability through early detection, analysis and verification of corrective actions for the grid. With PhasorPoint, ISO New England will also benefit from the storage of time synchronised historical wide-area data for easy retrieval and analysis.

Psymetrix, the worlds leading expert in phasor-based wide area monitoring systems (WAMS), was acquired by Alstom Grid in February 2011 to complement Alstoms On-line Stability Solutions suite of software applications.

Dr Jos Trehern, Chief Executive of Psymetrix, states: We are extremely proud to have been selected for ISO New Englands project. We are also delighted with the tremendous recognition this gives our advanced solutions, expertise, future developments and demonstrable synergies with other Alstom Grid solutions.

"Alstom Grid is dedicated to helping our customers implement smart grid technologies in their unique environments. We view smart grid technologies and projects like this one with ISO New England as having the potential to really transform the industry in terms of quantifying the dynamics of the grid as we incrementally enhance it, said Jean-Michel Cornille, Senior Vice-President, Grid Power Electronics and Automation at Alstom Grid.

This new project illustrates how strong the Alstom Grid-Psymetrix technology synergy has grown in delivering effective on-line grid stability solutions. We are more than ever committed to expanding the value we bring to our customers through our Psymetrix acquisition, he added.
