Alstom has concluded a contract with Metsä Botnia
for a major overhaul of an industrial size steam turbine at the Joutseno pulp
mill in Eastern Finland. The 97MW steam
turbine is coming up for a regular major overhaul in autumn 2011. “We are very happy that the customer awarded the
contract to Alstom, based on our
technical know-how and the shorter outage time” says Kari Sinivuori, country
president for Alstom in Finland.

Alstom’s scope includes disassembly of the turbine, overhaul of the turbine
and it’s auxiliary equipment, turbine rotor overhaul and partial reblading in
the Alstom factory plus reassembly and commissioning of the new turbine. The
complete overhaul project will be executed in October and November 2011 within
less than two months. After the major overhaul the steam turbine will be in
safe operation for several years until the next major overhaul.
