Alstom signs new service contract for retrofit of the Shidongkou Second Power Plant

Alstom, a leading provider of power generation equipment and associated services, announced today that it has been awarded with a contract for retrofit and maintenance work at the Shidongkou Second Power Plant.

Huaneng Shanghai Shidongkou Second Power Plant awarded Alstom with a contract to retrofit one of their 600 MW steam turbines to significantly improve the turbine efficiency and reduce the plant coal consumption rate. Once completed, the efficiency of the low pressure turbine will be substantially increased to achieve a coal saving of 36,000 tons per year* and a corresponding reduction in power plant emissions. The retrofit work will be conducted at the power plant site utilising the advanced capabilities of the Alstom Mobile Precision workshop, with all major components provided by Alstoms turbine factory Alstom Beizhong Power (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

Huaneng Shanghai Shidongkou Second Power Plant is a long-term customer of Alstom. Last year Alstom successfully completed its first service project utilizing the capabilities of the Alstom Mobile Precision workshop at the Huaneng Shanghai Shidongkou Second Power Plant ahead of schedule. Alstom demonstrated its capability to provide precise and effective services, and has therefore, been entrusted again with this new retrofit project.
