LKAB has signed a contract with Alstom for the installation of a process gas cleaning plant at its pelletizing plant in Svappavaara (Sweden), where iron ore is processed. The order is worth SEK 150 million (approx. 17 million euros) and the plant will be put into operation in the autumn of 2015. Alstom will install its leading technology for dry desulphurization of the Drypac type, including fabric filter for the process gas flow from the pelletizing machines pre-heating zone.

Alstoms EC/CCS team in Växjö will be responsible for the project management, design, supply and installation of the gas cleaning plant. The new gas cleaning system will remove particles, sulphur dioxide, fluorides and chlorides from the pelletizing plant in Svappavaara, ensuring that it will be environmental compliant with the new emission limits set by the IED which is to come into force in early 2016.
