Alstom, through Alstom Alliance, reinforces partnerships with key suppliers to better address customers’ needs

14/10/2016

Alstom, which announced a year ago the launch of a strategic partnership program with its main key suppliers, has welcomed about 10 new members, during Innotrans fair, including Schneider Electric, Nexans, Soreel, Sanmina, Knorr Bremse, Faiveley and Midas bringing the total number of members to 34. Based on three pillars: business development, industrial excellence and product and innovation, the program supports Alstom’s strategy.

Through this program, called Alstom Alliance, Alstom wants to create premium partnerships with strategic suppliers to support their geographical expansion, share innovations and mutualize the development of key components in order to deliver quality, cost-effective, and reliable mobility solutions.

Results have already been observed. For example, some of the partners have extended their geographical footprints to follow Alstom’s expansion in key regions. Other suppliers benefit from Alstom’s partnership for the co-development of innovative solutions or the redesign of trains’ key components which result in cost savings.

Olivier Baril, Chief Purchasing Officer of Alstom declared: “At Alstom, we are convinced that one way to better address our customers and passengers needs is to forge strategic partnerships with our suppliers to ensure the availability, sustainability and quality of our solutions.  With Alstom Alliance, we have created a platform that greatly facilitates the collaboration. We are very much looking forward to welcoming new industrial partners in the Alliance”.

Alstom aims to welcome around 40 suppliers into the program by first quarter 2017.
