Alstom has been awarded a contract worth 1.4 million by Metro de Santiago for the replacement of FEPs (Frontal Equipment Processor) on Lines 4 and 4A. Alstom will replace a total of 22 FEPs that comply with this function, including the complete renewal of the software used in the processors.

The FEP platform comprises an interface between the signalling system and the traffic monitoring system, within processors that allow communicating the trains positioning data and the lateral signalling status to the local and remote supervision centres. The replacement will solve the obsolescence of the current devices, contributing to maintain the service life of the signalling system of Line 4 and 4A.

Repositioning the equipment will be performed in 10 stations of Lines 4 and 4A covering the most extensive monitoring zones, replacing the original equipment installed at the end of 2005 when this service was begun.

We are pleased to collaborate with the Metro de Santiago with the Alstom state-of-the-art technology, as per the services growing demand and the companys operating needs, states Denis Girault, Alstoms Managing Director in Chile.
