Minister visits Alstom in Stafford


DECC Minister Amber Rudd has visited Alstom in Stafford with local MP Jeremy Lefroy to take a closer look at the company’s activities in the town.

Alstom plans to develop new state-of-the-art facility in Stafford


International engineering company Alstom has today announced that it plans to build a new facility in Stafford to house its Automation division. Alstom will retain a number of its existing locations in the town and build the facility at the Redhill Business Park, with the aim to open it by the end of 2016, when the company’s UK Automation activities will move from its current location at its St Leonards site.

Christmas comes to Partington Community


Referred to sometimes as Mr Nasty because of his strict timekeeping and mobile phone use regime; Rainer Lueoend, site manager at Carrington Power Station, had the opportunity to show a more generous side to his character during the festive season.  Money raised from the late fine system he implemented at site, to the tune of over £2,800, has been donated to a variety of community groups in Partington.

Alstom’s tidal turbines have generated over 1GWh to the Scottish grid


As part of their testing programmes at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney, Scotland, Alstom’s tidal devices have now generated over 1GWh of electricity, in actual operating conditions, to the Scottish grid. 

Alstom works with ScottishPower Energy Networks to strengthen Scottish grid with sub-synchronous oscillation monitoring


Alstom Grid has been awarded a contract by ScottishPower Energy Networks, the transmission and distribution network operator in Central and Southern Scotland, to strengthen Scottish grid with the provision of sub-synchronous oscillation monitoring and detection capabilities. This contract includes a grid monitoring and detection system for real-time early warning of sub-synchronous oscillations (SSO) and off-line analysis of system behaviour related to the physical effects of series compensation and HVDC systems on nearby generation units.
