Between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013, Alstom booked €23.8 billion of orders, up 10% compared to last year. As announced, the group achieved a strong level of orders in the fourth quarter at €6.6 billion, leading to a book-to-bill above 1 for the 10th consecutive quarter.

Alstom Renewable Power was selected by Energias do Brazil, to supply all electromechanical equipment to Cachoeira Caldeirão, a 220 MW hydro plant. Energias do Brazil is a subsidiary of the Portuguese EDP Group, one of the largest operators in the European electricity sector.

Alstom Grid and Soyuz Holding have signed a joint venture agreement to manufacture and commercialise high voltage switchgear as part of ongoing efforts to modernise the Russian electrical grid. The joint venture will be owned 51% by Alstom Grid and 49% by Soyuz Holding and will be part of Alstom’s worldwide industrial organisation, benefiting from its industrial know-how and technological expertise.

Centrica Energy has awarded Alstom a €120 million contract for gas turbine maintenance services at its South Humber Bank power station in the north of the UK. The agreement covers the five Alstom GT13E2 gas turbines installed at the 1260 MW combined-cycle power plant over the next seven years.

Lake Road Generating Company, L.P. has entered into a €125 million service contract with Alstom for its 844 MW combined-cycle power plant located in Dayville, Connecticut. The agreement covers the Lake Road facility’s three Alstom GT24 gas turbines.
Alstom has been awarded a contract to supply equipment for the Yanbu 3 power and desalination plant located on the Red Sea coast in the western part of Saudi Arabia. This will be one of the country’s first supercritical power plants to run on heavy fuel oil. This investment is part of Saudi Arabia’s objective to expand its power generation base while minimising impact on the environment. The contract is worth around €750 million .

The French association “France-Palestine” started in February 2007 a legal action in France against the Jerusalem tramway project and decided to sue Alstom on the motive of a violation of the international law for having provided the rolling stock of this tramway system. “France-Palestine” lost its case in first instance in front of a French court and finally lost again its last legal recourse on 22 March 2013 in front of the Versailles court of appeal.

Alstom has completed the acquisition of Tidal Generation Limited (TGL) from Rolls-Royce plc.
