Alstom Grid has been awarded a contract by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) to supply, install, and commission a 230 kV underground gas-insulated substation, for the Diana project on the Paseo de la Reforma avenue in Mexico City. The substation will increase power supply and insure a more stable energy source for the citys commercial hub.

Under the terms of the contract, Alstom will supply all equipment for the 230 kV substation. Assembly, commissioning, supervision of all testing and on-site training will be performed by the local Alstom Grid Services team, in Mexico.

The substation is a key element of the Diana project and will be located at the core of the metropolitan electrical network. It is an integral part of CFE´s modernization program, seeking to provide its customers with a more reliable electrical supply, says Cintia Angulo, President and CEO of Alstom Mexico.

Gas-insulated substations are ideal for largely-populated cities such as Mexico City. Their compact size facilitates maintenance and ensures a reduced environmental footprint.

Alstom, with over 50 years in the energy transmission business in Mexico, is a leading supplier of gas-insulated substations in Mexico having installed over 300 bays and fifty-seven 123-420 kV substations throughout the country. With over 2,000 substations and over 20,000 bays delivered and in operation around the world over the last 44 years, Alstom is the leader in securing reliability and safety for its customers operations.
