Coradia Meridian regional train

Coradia Meridian was developed for the needs of the Italian market, specifically for Trenitalia and regional operators who were seeking a modern, highly flexible and reliable train to meet their rising needs in regional rail transport.

The articulated train with short car bodies features a maximum axle load of 16 tons.

Coradia Meridian, a train for Italy

To ensure its appeal to Italian passengers, Alstom collaborated with renowned Italian designers Giorgetto Giugiaro on the aesthetic design of the train.

Up to now, Alstom has supplied more than 130 Coradia Meridian trainsets to Trenitalia and other Italian rail operators in different  architectures.

A flexible train, to suit all customer and user needs

Like all the trains in the range, Coradia Meridian is flexible: 4-6 car configuration and variable interior layouts to provide the best response to different needs.

Comfort first

The interiors are user-friendly: wide corridors, large seat pitch and comfortable seats with arm rests, tables and power sockets for telephones and portable computers. Inside the low-floor train are spaces for stowing baggage and other bulky objects like bicycles and skis.

Passenger information

Display screens are visible from all parts of the train and audio information is also available in Braille for visually impaired passengers.

Accessibility

The low-floor train features an entrance height of 600 mm.
Boarding the train has been made easier for passengers with impaired mobility thanks to boarding platforms that do not require external lifting systems.

Coradia Meridian: fast maintenance

To optimise operations, the train is equipped with an integrated diagnostic system to detect faults and to transfer the data to the maintenance centre to facilitate fast and efficient maintenance.
