ALSTOM to supply 100 diesel-electric locomotives in
Iran

ALSTOM has received confirmation of an order worth 192
million euros from Iran's state railways, for the supply of 100
diesel-electric locomotives for passenger and goods
transport.

The contract covers the supply of 100 type AD43 C, 4,300 HP
locomotives equipped with ALSTOM Ruston diesel engines and ONIX
asynchronous drive systems.

The first 20 locomotives will be manufactured entirely at
ALSTOM's factory in Belfort, Eastern France. The remaining 80
units will be assembled in Iran by Pars Wagon, ALSTOM's local
partner for the contract.

In total, ALSTOM has manufactured over 20,000
diesel-electric locomotives in France, the UK and Spain for
more than 70 rail operators on all continents. Its new range of
asynchronous diesel-electric locomotives is designed to ensure
maximum operating reliability and substantially reduced running
costs.
