Alstom Grids Michael Atkinson Appointed to GridWise Alliance Board of Directors

Alstom today announced that Michael Atkinson, President of Alstom Grid North America, has been named to the Board of Directors of the GridWise Alliance. Founded in 2003, the GridWise Alliance is an industry coalition that advocates for the transformation of the electric system to achieve a sustainable energy future for the public good.

Atkinson, who has led Alstom’s power transmission and distribution technology business in the U.S. and Canada since April of 2012, will serve a two-year term on the Alliance Board of Directors.

“Modernizing the way society consumes energy is a fundamental challenge, one that touches everyone who flips a light switch,” remarked Atkinson. “Such a massive undertaking requires a concerted and collaborative effort bringing together businesses, regulators, researchers and community groups. GridWise Alliance is the table around which these diverse groups gather to fulfill the promise of smart grid technologies, and I am honored to serve on its Board of Directors.”
