Revolutionising very high-speed rail
The challenge
Transporting more passengers, faster, in greater comfort, and in better conditions of safety, while at the same time preserving the environment, is a major priority in the face of increasing road congestion and air pollution. The development of very high-speed cross-border trains is the ideal answer to these contemporary problems.
The Alstom Solution
The AGV is the first very high-speed train to be entirely designed for an international market (in full compliance with STI* standards) while fully taking into account environmental concerns.
The AGV, a technological convergence
-
Articulated architecture for improved safety and comfort,
-
Distributed power to increase on-board capacity by 20% in comparison with trains with concentrated power, tested under the extreme conditions of the rail speed record**,
-
Commercial speed of up to 360km/h,
-
Design combining pure lines and fluid forms.
The AGV, a flexible concept contributing to sustainable mobility
-
Train lengths are modular (from 1 to 3 train sets) and so is the interior layout,
-
The life cycle cost and electric consumption are 15% lower than competitors,
-
Up to 98% of the AGV’s components are recyclable,
-
Circulation inside the AGV is the most generous on the market (while respecting European UIC / STI standards) for optimum interior comfort.
* Technical Specifications for Interoperability
** Rail speed record of 574.8 km/h reached by Alstom, the SNCF and the RFF on 3 April 2007, with a test train on the East-European high-speed line.
