We have delivered more than 12,000 new or renovated vehicles to our U.S. customers, including the first high-speed trains made in the United States. We’re also the #1 private operator in the country, serving more than 20 rail and airport customers and moving millions of passengers daily.

With four manufacturing and overhaul sites, Alstom's operations are rooted in a long-standing tradition of rail manufacturing in the U.S. We have also built domestic capabilities and a supply chain to meet Buy America requirements.  

  • Hornell, New York

    Our Hornell, NY, site has been manufacturing and repairing trains since the 1880s. It is the largest passenger rail manufacturing site in the United States that assembles and produces rail vehicles and components. It’s also home to a state-of-the-art facility capable of producing stainless steel car body shells right here in America.

  • Plattsburgh, New York

    Our Plattsburgh facility extends our manufacturing capabilities in upstate New York. There, we are producing components and building modern rail fleets for customers from coast to coast.

  • West Mifflin, Pennsylvania

    West Mifflin, PA is home to our global engineering and manufacturing center for automated people movers (APMs) and propulsion technology that moves millions of passengers across the U.S. every day.

  • Kanona, NY

    Our facility in Kanona, NY is a center for refurbishment and modernization for components and vehicles, helping our customers sustain the safety and reliability of their fleets for the long run.

    Since 1983, Alstom has manufactured over 4,200 subway cars for New York City Transit and recently received an order to manufacture more than 300 commuter rail cars for Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad at our facility in Hornell, NY.

    Alstom began its partnership with Southern California Regional Rail Authority over 30 years ago with the delivery of double-deck coaches. Since then, we’ve expanded our partnership to provide train crews and customer service, maintenance of the rolling stock fleet, and maintenance of their facilities.

    Since it opened in 1980, Alstom’s Innovia Automated People Mover system at Atlanta’s airport is one of the most complex systems of its kind in the world. Today, we are delivering new, modern APM vehicles and providing operations and maintenance services at the busiest airport in the world.
