Over 1000 Alstom trains in Sweden and onboard ERTMS equipment for 111 regional trains.

Alstom is the largest player on the Swedish railway market, with over 1000 trains delivered.

Alstom is holding several large maintenance contracts and is offering maintenance in 19 local depots, including a depot in Motala specialising in heavy maintenance and refurbishment.

The company is also leading the ERTMS rollout in Sweden both onboard and trackside, and is delivering the new standard national traffic management system for Trafikverket.

    Arlanda Express

    Seven four-carriage express trains were deployed in 1999. Maximum speed in traffic: 200 km/h. This was Alstom's first contract in Sweden, signed in 1995, through a newly formed company together with John Mowlem, NCC and SIAB.

    Coradia Nordic X60/X60B for SL

    The trains were deployed in August 2005. Maximum speed in traffic: 160 km/h. The contract was signed in 2002. Alstom has sold 129 regional trains in total to Greater Stockholm Commuter Transport (SLL).

    For Skånetrafiken, Östgötatrafiken, Västtrafik and Norrtåg: the first regional trains were deployed in 2009. Maximum speed in traffic: 160/180 km/h.

    C20, 271 metro cars for SLL. Running in the Stockholm metro since 1997 as 3 car-trains. Passenger capacity approx. 1200 per train. Max speed 90 km/h.

  • Intercity trains

    A fleet of 267 intercity trains, 65-meter long (6-cars) with 306 seat. Top speed 200 km/h.

  • Service center in Motala

    Alstom's service center in Motala, is specialized in heavy maintenance, refurbishment and modernization of railway vehicles and components. With Motala's geographical location, vehicles from the whole of the Nordic region can be maintained here.
    Alstom has invested in an advanced production line for bogie maintenance that streamlines maintenance and overhaul of bogies in a more efficient way for a smarter and more cost-effective production. We can now offer our customers shorter lead times, increased capacity and higher quality for bogie maintenance. For our customers, it means one higher vehicle availability in traffic.
    The new bogie facility further strengthens Alstom's presence in the Nordic region and is part of our strategic investment for a more efficient and high-quality maintenance offer.

    In total, we have 16 active fleet maintenance projects including 18 Arriva/Östgötatrafiken X61 commuter trains; 63 Götalandståg/Västtrafik X61, X11, X12 and X14 trains; 99 Skånetrafiken X61 commuter trains; 12 locomotives and 75 passenger coaches for Vy Tåg AB's night fleet, among others.

    We also have a Global Test and Technology Center for Propulsion in Västerås, Sweden.

    Leading the ERTMS rollout in Sweden both onboard and trackside. Delivery of the new standard national traffic management system for Trafikverket to be rolled out in 2021, as well as signalling solutions for Tvärbanan tramway in Stockholm. Delivering onboard ERTMS equipment for 111 regional trains. Global Innovation Center for Rail Control Solutions.
