Train operations for all types of fleets

Our FlexCare Operate solutions include manually driven and fully automated solutions for both Alstom and non-Alstom assets, with train drivers and crew, operations control centre, cleaning, train control and dispatching, as well as scheduling and timetable optimisation. To ensure the most seamless passenger experience, we provide ticketing and station management, as well as customer service. Alstom also offers various consultation and support services for operators including shadow operations, mobilisation and operation support.

Signalling, telecommunication, and rail infrastructure maintenance

Alstom provides signalling and telecommunication maintenance services to improve availability and ensure continuous safe operation of the railway system. HealthHub™ signalling, an Alstom solution for predictive maintenance, transforms data acquired and analysed from the network into actionable information for the user, to ensure maintenance is efficient and effective. We also provide maintenance solutions for train tracks, traction and auxiliary substations, and electrification systems, as well as for fixed facilities, such as train stations and services centres, and civil infrastructure.

Alstom supports customers with training staff to provide the best and most efficient rail services. We’ve developed innovative simulators and eTraining solutions for all types of rail use cases. Alstom offers simulators for both train operations and maintenance training, providing customers with an immersive and realistic training environment for employees. Our eTraining solutions cover all aspects of rolling stock and rail systems, including driving, maintenance, infrastructure and depot management.

Alstom is creating value for customers through our solutions for maintenance optimisation. As pioneers in predictive maintenance, we keep your fleets running reliably with HealthHub™ and advanced analytics, and improve maintenance planning and execution with our Dynamic Maintenance Planning solution. Alstom is also using robotics and artificial intelligence to automate and improve maintenance inspections, and employing exoskeletons to enhance working conditions for maintenance workers.

Providing safe and comfortable rail services for passengers is critical. We enhance the safety and efficiency of our customers’ railway operations with solutions including cybersecurity, autonomous train signalling, and connected driver advisory systems, ensuring continuous operation. Alstom also offers digital solutions to enhance passenger experience and provide real-time travel information, including next generation information, infotainment and entertainment systems, and high-speed internet access.

  • Manual operation and maintenance for GO Transit, Canada

    Alstom provides operations and maintenance services for GO Transit, the regional public transit service for the Greater Golden Horseshoe region of Ontario. The first services contract, still ongoing, was awarded in 1997 for fleet maintenance, with the addition of operations and customer service in 2008. The contract includes manual train operation with engineers and conductors, customer service, rolling stock maintenance for over 90 locomotives, 980 BiLevel coaches manufactured by Alstom, and 18 DMUs, and dispatching. As of November 2022, Alstom achieved 99.8% on-time delivery.

  • Automated operation and maintenance for Cairo monorail, Egypt

    In August 2019, an Alstom-led consortium involving Orascom Construction and Arab Contractors signed a contract to design, construct, operate and maintain an Alstom Innovia™ monorail system with two lines. The project includes a 57km line connecting the New Administrative City with East of Nile and a second 42km line connecting West of Nile with Giza. After the construction phase is completed, the Alstom-led consortium will provide 30 years of operation and maintenance services for both lines.

  • Automated operation and maintenance for AirTrain at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, USA

    Alstom has provided operations and maintenance services for John F. Kennedy (JFK) Airport’s AirTrain since 2003. In 2019, the contract was renewed for five years. Alstom’s scope of work under the contract includes: 24-hour train operations and passenger assistance, maintenance of the vehicle fleet, maintenance of the tracks and power supply and signalling systems, and maintenance of all facilities on the system such as stations and platforms.

  • Manual operation and maintenance for Edmonton LRV, Canada

    In 2016, as part of TransEd Partners, Alstom was awarded a contract for the Valley Line light rail transit (LRT) in Edmonton, Alberta to provide 30 years of operations and maintenance services. Alstom ensures the highest levels of safety, customer service, on-time performance, fleet availability and reliability for all assets. The scope of the contract includes the design, supply, operations and maintenance of the vehicles, signalling, communications, power supply and distribution, overhead catenary system, and related depot equipment.

  • Manual operation and maintenance for SunRail, USA

    In 2013, Alstom won a contract to operate and maintain a fleet of 20 BiLevel cars for SunRail, a commuter rail system operating in Florida. In 2019, Alstom’s SunRail Operations & Maintenance team was awarded a $10M Crossing Rehabilitation project throughout the City of Orlando in which SunRail traverses. The project was completed four months early and completely rebuilt 54 crossings throughout three counties in 20 months with zero lost time accidents or incidents.

  • Automated operation and maintenance for Frankfurt Airport’s SkyLine system, Germany

    Since 1994, Alstom has provided operations and maintenance for the airport’s 1.9 km dual-line system, including 18 Innovia™ automated people mover 100 two-car trains. In 2020, a new contract was signed to operate and maintain the Frankfurt Airport’s automated people mover system for an additional 10 years.

  • Automated operation and maintenance services for Los Angeles International Airport, USA

    In 2018, Alstom and consortium partners won a contract to deliver an Innovia™ automated people mover system for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The system will be built using a Public-Private Partnership contracting model, the first automated people mover system to be procured this way in the United States. Alstom will lead a joint venture that will provide operations and maintenance services for the system and related facilities for a 25-year period, following completion of the construction.

  • Manual operation and maintenance for MARC, USA

    Since 2012, Alstom has provided operations and maintenance for MARC (Maryland Area Regional Commuter), a commuter rail system operating in the Baltimore/Washington area. In 2023, the contract was extended to 2028, with the potential for two five-year extensions. Alstom provides customer service, revenue management, fleet, station, and facility maintenance, as well as material supply and management for the Camden and Brunswick lines, and infrastructure maintenance for the Frederick Branch. Alstom has achieved above 99% on-time performance for the fleet.

  • Automated operation and maintenance for Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport system, Spain

    Alstom delivered its leading Innovia™ automated people mover system to Madrid-Barajas Airport. It is the first 100% automatic transit system in Spain, and connects Terminal T4 with the satellite terminal (T4S). Alstom has provided operations and maintenance services since 2006 when the system first opened. In 2013, the contract was renewed for an additional 10 years.
