Lake rejuvenation: Reviving Bengaluru's water
The Challenge
Neglected lakes reduce water security and biodiversity, contributing to scarcity and pollution.
We rejuvenated Bidare Agrahara Lake by desilting, cleaning bunds, creating wetlands, and planting saplings. Fencing and walkways prevent encroachment while inviting daily use. A community association was formed to anchor upkeep. The rationale: combine engineering with community stewardship to restore hydrological function and civic pride.
