LEAP: Women at the wheel of safer, greener communities in Bengaluru

The Challenge

For thousands of daily metro commuters in Bengaluru, the journey doesn't end when the train stops. The last mile is often the hardest, with limited safe options, especially for women.

LEAP India

In partnership with WRI India, we launched LEAP (Low Emission Access to Public Transport) to transform last-mile mobility. The program trains and supports women to drive electric three-wheelers around metro stations, addressing safety for passengers and creating dignified livelihoods for drivers. A Station Rating App was piloted with BMRCL to measure safety and accessibility at stations. The design logic is intentional: solve safety and equity together, reduce emissions, and build scalable tools that authorities can adopt across networks.
