Visitors to the museum can review the history of railway
signalling using multimedia equipment provided by Alstom.
Information panels allow them to learn about the principal
systems used to manage the movement of trains, while videos
enable them to explore the secrets of signalling and even to
transform themselves into rail traffic managers, thanks to the
presence of an interactive control point.

From the flags and lamps used in the 18
th century to systems developed in subsequent years,
railway signalling has become a highly advanced area, with the
latest technology now enabling enhanced rail traffic management,
optimized journey times and increased passenger safety. The
high-speed line linking Rome with Naples provides a prime example
of this technology: the entirely radio-controlled line, the work
of Alstom Transport, operates according to the ERTMS (European
Railway Traffic Management System) standard, which all rail
signalling systems across Europe must comply with in
future.  Further information about the exhibition and its hours of
operation is available at:

Entry to the exhibition is free.
