Alstom and Transmashholding agree to form joint ventures in
Russia

This agreement has been reached within the context of the
structural modernization of the Russian railways, according to
the plan recently adopted by the Russian government and known as
Plan for railway transport between now and 2030. In
this context, Alstom has been awarded in September 2007 a
contract with Karelian Railways (a joint venture between RZD and
VR of Finland) to supply Pendolino high speed tilting trains,
which will operate between Saint Petersburg and Helsinki.
