The contract involves 24x6 coach Metropolis train sets.
Alstom Transport is responsible for design, traction system,
auxiliary electrical power supply, TCMS (Train Control and
Monitoring System) and technical services. Puzhen is in charge
of manufacturing the train sets. Delivery of the first train is
scheduled for December 2008. The trains will begin to operate
on line 2 of the Nanjing metro beginning November 2009.

northern part of Nanjing, have already supplied the metro train
sets used on Nanjings first metro line, which entered
into service in September 2005 just before the Chinese National

contract for Shanghai Line 3 Metro was signed. To date, Alstom
Transport has sold over 260 metro coaches to the city of
Nanjing and over 780 Metropolis coaches to the city of
Shanghai. In total, more than 1,900 Metropolis coaches have
been sold across the world.
