Southern suburbs of Tunis welcome their new tramway

In Tunis, Alstom has just completed the extension of the
southern tramway line extension. On 12 November 2008, the tram
line branch that serves El Mourouj, a southern suburb of Tunis,
was put into service by Transtu, the passenger transport
operator for the Tunis metropolitan area.

Alstom teams and SBF, their local civil engineering partner,
were tasked with the turnkey delivery of 6,7 km of double
tracks electrified to 750V. In the course of the project,
Transtu operational teams and those of the consortium led by
Alstom have forged close ties, that contributed to the success
of this project.
