12 trains, each composed of 3 stainless steel Metropolis
cars, will be manufactured at Alstom’s site in Lapa,
Brazil. The Villeurbanne, Tarbes and Ornans sites (France) will
supply the electrical traction and train control equipment, the
Saint-Ouen site (France) will equip the trains with onboard
Automatic Train Control (ATC¹), while the passenger
information system will come from the Montreal site (Canada).
Delivery of the new cars is expected for the end of 2009.

Alstom Chile’s teams will install the bogies at one of
Metro de Santiago’s maintenance workshops and will also
provide technical support during the warranty period.
