A special Christmas food collection in order to ensure that the delicacies of the season also arrive on the tables of the poorest. This is the objective of the collaboration between Alstom Italia and the Banco Alimentare (Food Bank), the organisation that has been fighting waste and hunger since 1989 by collecting the excess food created by companies and supermarkets and donating it to the poor and needy.

For Christmas 2014, Alstoms 4,000 employees in Italy will be asked to bring Christmas cakes such as panettoni and pandori, nougat, dried fruit and nuts, pork sausages, lentils and other typical seasonal specialities. The collected food will be distributed throughout Italy by the 21 local organisations of the Food Bank Foundation to 9,000 charitable bodies that aid about 1,900,000 poor people.

Banco Alimentare has been our partner in other local and national initiatives for some time, declared Antonino Turicchi, President of Alstom Italia. Their professionalism and the concrete nature of their projects has led us to renew this collaboration for Christmas not only by making a contribution as a company, but also by actively involving our employees.

We collaborate with great pleasure with Alstom, a serious and reliable partner. We wish that what has been done throughout 2014 was only the beginning of a path of multi-year collaboration. A special thanks to all the companys employees who are supporting us by donating food, a simple but meaningful action.  Said Andrea Giussani, President of Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus
