Alstom to supply 12 steam turbine generators for power plants in Thailand

Alstom has been awarded by Toyo Engineering Corporation a contract worth about 65 million[1] to supply 12 units of 35MW to 45MW Geared Reaction steam Turbine (GRT) generators, its auxiliaries as well as the condensers to 12 different power plants to Gulf MP Company Limited, in Thailand.

The contract was awarded along in the frame of the third phase of Thailands Small Power Producer (SPP) scheme to help Thailand achieves its energy needs. The project will bring additional capacity to the grid of Thailand and steam to the industries around the power plants.

Alstoms GRT steam turbines provide optimised solutions for an efficient and flexible power and steam production. The first power plant is expected to be commissioned during 2016 and first commercial operation date in May 2017, with the rest to be operational within 2019.

Alstom has been present in Thailand for over 40 years, having supplied over 7GW of installed capacity in the country and is currently constructing a combined cycle new unit in North Bangkok power plant as well as the Asias first ultra-supercritical lignite-fired unit in Mae Moh power plant.
