Alstom appoints Mohamed Khalil as Managing Director to lead its business in Saudi Arabia

Send an email29 November 2021 – Today, Alstom announced the appointment of Mohamed Khalil as the Managing Director of Alstom in Saudi Arabia, as part of its efforts to grow its presence in the Kingdom. Mohamed was previously the Managing Director of Alstom in Egypt.
Mohamed brings over 25 years of global and regional experience to the role, including 15 years of operational experience in Saudi Arabia. His journey with Alstom started in 2012 and over the years he has held numerous management roles including Project Director for Alstom’s Riyadh Metro Project. In 2018, Mohamed became the Managing Director of Egypt, responsible for expanding Alstom’s footprint in the country and supporting the development of the country’s public transport network.

Alstom is a dedicated and long-standing partner of Saudi Arabia’s mobility development. In the Kingdom, Alstom started in the energy sector by installing its first gas turbine in 1951. Since then, Alstom has gone on to become a key contributor to the advancement of the region’s transport infrastructure.
Alstom is proud to supply an integrated Metro System for Lines 4, 5 and 6 as part of the FAST Consortium. This includes 69 Metropolis trains, Urbalis signaling system, and Hesop energy recovery station and tracks. For line 3, Alstom is delivering 47 trains based on Innovia 300 Platform as part of the ArRiyadh New Mobility consortium. As a Member of FLOW, Alstom will provide Operation and Maintenance services for Lines 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Riyadh Metro over a period of 12 years.
For the Haramain high-speed rail line between Mecca and Medina, Alstom supplied Talgo with the Mitrac TC 3300 propulsion equipment and Flexifloat high speed bogies for the powerheads of the 35 very high-speed trains as well as the VIP train for the 450km line. Alstom is currently providing a 12-year maintenance contract.
In addition, Alstom is the supplier of the turnkey Innovia APM 300 automated people mover system at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah for which the group is also managing the Operation and Maintenance until June 2022.
