8 July 2022 – Alstom’s Chinese joint venture, CRRC Puzhen Alstom Transportation System Co. Limited (PATS)[1] has signed a contract with Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) to provide Operation & Maintenance (O&M) service for the integrated Automated People Mover (APM) system for the T2 Line connecting Hong Kong International Airport’s (HKIA) Terminal 2 Concourse (T2C) and Terminal 2.

In 2017, PATS was awarded the contract from the customer to provide the T2 Line project. This project is the first turnkey general contract project of PATS, which adopts the APM 300 automatic passenger rapid transit system. In the early, near and long-term, a 6-vehicle marshalling operation mode is adopted.

Alstom has already supplied APM systems to Beijing Capital International Airport, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, Shanghai Metro Line 8 and Guangzhou Zhujiangxincheng, and is also currently delivering an Innovia APM 300 system to HKIA. Alstom’s APM technology has been in service in China’s six largest urban centres while responsible for the operation and maintenance service projects in China’s three major cities including Chengdu, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

The driverless Innovia APM is a transportation system specially designed to serve airports and dense urban areas. It offers quick, comfortable, and convenient service for commuters within cities, to and from airports, or between airport terminals. Innovia APM cars operate on a dedicated guideway underground, on ground level or elevated. This ensures a consistent service that does not interfere with surrounding road or runway traffic. Built on 50 years of successful and dependable subsystems for optimised functionality, over 30 of Alstom’s APM systems have been delivered around the world and are in operation at 12 of the world’s busiest airports.
