To the sizeable crowd, Mrs. O'Rourke held solid sway, despite
a few signs of impatience with the delay in integrating the new
tramline's infrastructure: 'The tramways were taken away from the
inhabitants of Dublin some 50 years ago. But now they're back:
this is your tramway, your public transport system...

Come and discover it!'

A long line formed as members of the public waited their turn
to climb aboard the tram. The Irish expressed their enthusiasm
for the CITADIS, noting with satisfaction the vehicle's fine
styling and elegance, the interior space and furnishings. They
were particularly taken with the car's seat fabric, which
features the monuments of Dublin. A spell of passing rain brought
the crowd to take refuge in the tramcar, which thus passed its
first test for full capacity, with 6 people per square meter!

The tram also received larglely positive coverage by the local
press, which predicted that the trams 'would make a sensation in
the streets of Dublin.'

ALSTOM was pleased to participate in the Irish Transit
Authorities' special event in the historic centre of Dublin, with
the first tram presented right on schedule - an important
milestone for the customer, and for ALSTOM.
