Founded in 1853, the “Officine Savigliano” were
built in order to support the creation of a rail line between
Turin and Cuneo. The rolling stock manufacturing company then
changed to SNOS (Società Nazionale Officine di Savigliano)
in 1880, and Fiat in 1970. Savigliano is currently one of the
major factories of Alstom Transport.

Eleven out of the 25 AGV trains ordered by Italian NTV, the
Pendolino trains which will connect Helsinki and Saint
Petersburg and the X’trapolis suburban trains for
Australia will be signed “Savigliano”.
