The AGV .italo made an inaugural run between Rome and Naples (Italy) with several journalists and NTV management aboard. The train left Rome, as planned, just before 10 oclock and it arrived on time in Naples at 11.05.

Founded in 2006 in order to operate Italy's high-speed train network, NTV, Italy's first private operator, chose Alstom in 2008 to supply and maintain 25 AGV trainsets over a period of 30 years. The final design for the trainsets and their interior fittings - completely personalized for NTV - were unveiled at the Nola maintenance centre on 13 December 2011.

The first trip was the opportunity for the press to travel aboard the very first AGV trainset. The trains are ultramodern, with an optimum environmental and economic performance. The on-board technology is also designed to enable all types of travellers - families, students, managers and tourists - to remain connected with their environment and make the most of their travel time.

The AGV .italo trainsets will come into commercial service on the Naples-Rome-Florence-Bologna-Milan line on 28 April, before being extended to Salerno, Turin and Venice at the end of the year.

On Tuesday 13 December, Italys first private rail operator, NTV, unveiled the AGV .italo

The AGV is the first very high-speed train to be entirely designed for an international market
