Alstom retains EcoVadis Platinum
Alstom retains EcoVadis Platinum
Steel or aluminium are metallic commodities that are at the core of Alstom’s business, usually used in train structure or components. But Platinum is exceptional for Alstom. We have just won the EcoVadis Platinum medal for the second time is a row, achieving our highest score with 93 out of 100 in the 2025 assessment. This status marks our excellence in CSR & sustainability.
EcoVadis is one of the world’s most trusted providers of business sustainability ratings, evaluating over 130,000 companies globally. So, we are proud to announce that our 2025 score has again placed us in the top 1% of companies reaching the highest standards.
“Sustainability is a core value that shapes every aspect of our business, from innovation and product design to the way we engage with employees, communities, suppliers, and customers.”
Why is the EcoVadis ranking so important for Alstom? EcoVadis is the rating of reference for the mobility industry. It is highly regarded by our customers, public authorities and investors, and mobility solutions providers like Alstom are expected to share this ranking as early as the call for tenders. Sustaining the Platinum Top 1% status is a testament to our excellence in the four key dimensions in the EcoVadis assessment: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
“Sustainability is a core value that shapes every aspect of our business, from innovation and product design to the way we engage with employees, communities, suppliers, and customers. Receiving the Platinum Medal from EcoVadis and maintaining our position among the top 1% of assessed companies demonstrates Alstom’s strong Corporate Social Responsibility convictions, aiming for net zero emissions in transport as well as social equity and inclusion by increasing the availability and efficiency of public transport” said Véronique Andriès, Vice President Sustainability & CSR.
Our teams remain focused on our objectives and have shown success at all levels. In terms of the environment, we apply rigorous policies on energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and 100% eco-design, integrating 25.8% recycled materials in our rolling stock, such as the award-winning Avelia Stream Nordic X80 train for Sweden. Regarding labor and human rights, Alstom guarantees safe and fair working conditions, with health and safety training and anti-discrimination policies, while we have obtained the first international SA8000 certification in Italy for our operations. In Ethics, Alstom deploys robust policies and training addressing ethical issues, including anti-corruption or conflict of interest, and offers secure and accessible whistleblowing procedures with its Alert Procedure. Lasty, in sustainable procurement, we monitor 93% of our suppliers on CSR and E&C standards, and 98% have signed our Ethics and Sustainable Development Charter.
These achievements underscore our teams’ continued actions to lead the green transition, ensure fair treatment, set the standard for integrity, and raise the bar for responsible sourcing.
