The northern extension of Shanghai Line 3
begins its official operation on December 18, 2006. As a a
global leader in integrated rail solutions and also one

discussion on the construction of the northern
extension of Shanghai Line 3 with Shanghai Shentong Holdings
Group since earlier 2001.Shanghai Shentong Holdings Group has
had cooperation with ALSTOM Transport on the construction of
the northern extension of Shanghai Line 3 since earlier 2001,
aiming at increasing operators working efficiencies so
as to provide heightened comfort, safety and punctuality for
passengers.
 

The 15-kilometer extension is expected to ease the crowd on
Line 1 and provide much more traveling convenience
for people living in the Banshan area. The
signaling system of Line 3 is based on ALSTOMs advanced
URBALIS 200 solutions, which has covered almost
100-kilometer Shanghai metro lines in calculation.
ALSTOMs URBALIS solution is a state-of-the-art
train a radio-based train control system including a CBTC, a
spread spectrum Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for Train Control system, which ensure that the train follows the
principle of distance-to-go.  In addition, interlocking,

cars for Shanghai Line 2 west extension and 168 metro cars for
