ALSTOM, through its subsidiary Chantiers de l'Atlantique,
has been awarded a contract by the American shipowner
Renaissance Cruises International for two further cruise
ships.

This latest contract for two 350-cabin cruise ships will
complete the series of six sister ships already ordered by
Renaissance Cruises from Chantiers de l'Atlantique in 1996,
1997 and 1998. The first two ships in the series, R. One and R.
Two, were delivered last year, while the delivery schedule for
the remaining vessels extends to the first half of 2001.

With a total of eight ships now on order from ALSTOM, the
Renaissance Cruises contract is one of the largest ever placed
by a shipowner for a series of identical cruise ships.

The order book of ALSTOMs Marine Sector now comprises
14 cruise ships (one of which is on option), two high-speed
ferries, 17 tug boats and one seismic research vessel.

Since launching the CAP 21 development programme in October
1997, ALSTOM's Marine Sector has received orders for 13 cruise
ships, two high-speed ferries and 14 tugs, representing a total
of more than 3.8 billion euros.
